No comments... just orange overalls and jazz. Thats enough.  Buttons used in the top part are very unusual. They are  rather old - I cut them from the waistcoat that my great-granny had made for my mother, when she was at school. Buttons are wooden and polished, and really amazing.

Sewing starts with...

Sewing starts with the proper fabric.

I prefer natural fibre almost always, except some special occasions.
But for everyday wear and everyday comfort natural origin of your material is essential.

Everyday garment shouldn’t look plain and simple. Let's use print of the fabric, try some geometric and free forms, add lace of the same colour...

And don't hesitate to put your jacket into the washing machine - cotton lace is OK with washing, if it had passed pre-sewing preparations.

 No symmetry here.
Non-symmetrical hemline and neckline. And embellishments as well... Wait! At least sleeves are the same.

Helen, who ordered this jacket planned to wear it with black leather skirt.

Tutu, American... and other tulle skirts. Part 1.

I am going to make a series of posts about different types of tulle skirts for girls.

There is a tutu skirt, which came from American ballet performances, and American skirt with lots of frills, and other ways to apply tulle or netting creatively.

All of them are loved by girls and their mothers for their splendour, pomp and princess-like look.

As I made each of that glamorous skirts at least once, I collected some tips and thoughts about them to share. Which one is more comfortable to wear, what care do they need, which one is for one or two parties only, etc.

To be continued...

All skirts are my work. Tutu on the right, American above and modest everyday skirt on the left. Sorry, Mariana has commented that it is not modest at all.

Retro - mood... and thoughts

One can say that retro and vintage are always in trend. What is the difference between them, after all?
There's one rule: vintage is 50 and more years old, so it covers 50th and 60th of the previous century. Then retro comes onstge.
Stylists advice: if you desire to look retro, its better to quote not your personal youth decade, but take one decade earlier. You won't look old-fashioned in that case.
On the left photo - Julia demonstrates my dress and small jacket with retro features -  it is double-breasted, with round buttoned lapels and puffy short sleeves.

And two photos of my red satin dress for beautiful Tatiana on her Vintage party - reasonably bouffant skirt (just a couple of petticoats of soft tulle), white bow on the back, small button on the neck.
I think that the main facet of any Vintage look - is personal fitting of the dress, especially top. It covers the forms of your and only your figure, and it matches your individuality. A sign of custom-sewing.

Snow-white blouse

This is one of my favourite works for beautiful and elegant Alla. It is made of thin and soft linen and cotton lace. Parallel pleats, lace intersewn on the chest and along the sleeves. It is used for cuffs, hem and collar as well.

What makes this blouse snow-white - is small embellishment on the cuffs. Small white beads and larger ones made of natural crystal provide sparkling effect. I brought these crystal beads from Czech Republic.

Just Neckerchief

Just Neckerchief...

This is a neckerchief made of beads. It can be worn as a necklace or bracelet or in any other way. There is a tiny clasp on the edges.

Czech and Japanese beads are used in this creative accessory.

There is no small job or big job...

Blouse, jeans and orange coat are my creations.

Thin bi-elastic floral knitwear for blouse, denim of two colours for jeans.

Coat was sewn of "fabric for jackets" as it was written on the label. There are tiny beads on the hemline, but they are hardly seen on the photo.

Red Bracelet

These are photos of the red beaded bracelet with rose quartz pieces. An effective accessory to go with a red or rosy dress, to emphasize delicate ladies hands. I made it last year and gave to my niece before moving to Australia.

Black Tailed Dress

Beautiful Julia represents black tailed dress with double straps. The tail is quite long and very exciting.
Special cutting tips prevent narrow sleeves from outstretching on elbows.
Beaded purse is my design as well.
