Personality vs. Famous Model

My brother Valentine in St.-Petersburg is a teacher of Lindy Hop dance style. He said once that trousers like Fred Astaire's was his dream. Well, dreams need to come true, and I decided to make him a Christmas present.
I searched for Fred Astair’es  photos, and came to the following:

-he had different trousers, I couldn’t pick one particular style
-his trousers don’t always fit well… More likely quite opposite
-any trousers would be Fred Astaire's if there was Fred Astaire inside them!

so… we must start with the personality of the wearer, not with the model. Even if the model is Fred Astaire.

Lindy Hop was in trend for a long time (in different variations), fashion trousers changed several times during the period. I took the most bright features to produce the impression of the ‘vintage’ pants: high waist, pretty wide legs, low sitting line, rich folds on the front. But the most important thing is: they don’t have to be vintage, they have be Valentine’s.

Oh yes, there is hand topstitching on the zip and 'inside story' - bright and colourful story.

This is a hard part to explain, but true style comes from within (every stylist now says that), and sometimes you can simply feel, what garment facets will help this true style emerge.

What is to add to the story: fabric was ‘panama suiting’ from Spotlight. They have variety of colours, and width is rich -  150 cm. Pretty easy in sewing. It is 100% polyester, yes, but for dance it is not bad. Pants are easy to wash and iron, quick to dry, they don’t shrink and hopefully will last for long.

You can see in video, that trousers move a bit crispy. Natural woollen fabric will flow and fall softer and smoother, but wool is not suitable for everyday exercise.

Valentine loves them! Me too. By the way, it was my first experience of measuring my customer via Skype. A bit tricky, but it worked! I will tel about this interesting practise next time...
