Tulip Pants and Looks with them

New model - tulip pants. If there is tulip skirt, why not trying tulip pants? They look like trousers with the fly-off front panel, and this panel is gathered in pleats, like tulip skirt is. Idea of such trousers came to me when I've seen this fabric with wide stripes of tiny flowers, like garlands. I just couldn't stand the temptation to arrange these stripes or garlands in different directions so they can meet each other and part, and create diagonal lines, like lianas or other rainforest plants.
Another feature (unfortunately not seen very well on the photos) is that there is no left side seam there. Fly-off panel is one detail with the back part, so pattern of the fabric is not broken, and no extra bulkiness added. Last is really good for hot weather, bulky seams are really annoying in summer.

Tulip pants, this is how they look like from all sides. This model has elastic waistband and no darts, but it could also have darts and side invisible zip. There is no point to make front fly, because it will add bulkiness under the fly-off panel, and grace and elegancy of this pair of pants will be lost. Front panel is not elastic, and it can be worn tighter or looser, and can be put a little bit higher or lower. This gives some variations for look gathering and figure correction. It has power to conceal belly pretty good, especially if the belly is located low on the figure. Correct level of waistband makes miracles.
These pretentious trousers are not easy to find look partners though. This is my first option - plain T-shirt top in soft warm or neutral colour. I added accessories made of natural materials in brownish tones, because pants have warm white natural tone and slight texture. Garlands of simple flowers also increase this impression. This is very basic look for my tulip pants.

Though colour and print of these pants are pretty simple and universal, together with the tulip fashion they become not so easy to gather a look. Not easy, because model is not simple. Intriguing petal panel tends to tell a story, a different one with different tops and accessories. And wearing such a look you should be aware of the story and whether it suits you or not.
When partnered with t-shirt with tropical flowers and birds, tulip panel works as a tropical flower petal itself. This is how our eyes work: they are always looking for associations, understandable for our brain. This look tells us a colourful story about rainforest and its inhabitants. Accessories-wise, flowers and feathers will work, in the shape or decor of the handbag or hair clips, or necklace.
Woven blouse with delicate geometric print makes the look totally different. I see in this blouse slight medieval features in the print and laced sleeves. Together with flower garlands it becomes a story of medieval castle, probably about Sleeping Beauty, when her castle was covered with wild roses. But blouse should be tucked better under the pants, not like it is on the photo.
At the same time there is something from the Egyptian or even Indian male costume, drapery of the petal has this feature. It comes into our association field when partnered with loosely tucked woven blouse. Knitwear tops let this idea go.

Two t-shirts to compare. I've told about Sleeping Beauty associations in the previous post. Sleeping Beauty castle covered with flowers. Here you can see that it doesn't work with the big flowers very well. Though flowers are pretty simple and this top should have a kind of smart-effect, look doesn't look really good. I think it doesn't look put together because top is cold white tone, while trousers are very warm. And secondly, but not the least, that we can't see a common story in between top and bottom.
Left photo looks much better with tropical t-shirt. Pants front draped panel becomes a petal itself, and top and bottom look together very harmoniously due to common story they tell. And warm tone of the top blends in better too.
If you have one unusual or complicated garment in your look, like pants with drapery and print, look for the story it tells. It will be eye-catching anyway, so its partners should not contradict it.
