Old Photo Pick -2

This week I picked several photos for you.

I like these two old photos. They both represent outfits for going out, for going for a walk. And there are 70 years in between them.

Left one is a lovely morning dress from 1870. It is a dress for going for a walk, because there is a fancy feature - umbrella pocket. I am sure, ladies didn't need umbrellas at home, but they will never forget it if they have a special pocket on the dress. This dress is from Victoria and Albert museum.
Right photo represents ladies out in town in 1930th. They don't seem they bother forgetting umbrella any more. They choose to wear pants or skirt, cloche hats, they drive motorcycle and they smoke. (Smoking is not a good thing, but having a freedom of choice is).
There is a great difference in between the lifestyle of the lady who-can't-forget-her-parasol, who has to keep her back straight in her corset and who knows for sure what is proper and what is not, and the ladies on the second photo. Great change has taken place over 70 years. New woman had much more freedom of choice. Not only they could leave parasol at home or don't have it at all, and don't feel bad about it, but they could wear pants driving a motorcycle.

Let's have a look on this red dress. This is from one of the first Burda issues from 1952. New look made at home. I adore its glowing femininity. Aenne Burda started her magazine with patterns in 1950, and it gained popularity at once. After the war, after fabric rationing, after replacing men on the plants and factories, women needed ability to make feminine and fashionable dresses themselves.

We are about 70 years from that red dress nowadays. What photo should I add here to finish the pattern? This picture should show the change in fashion and lifestyle over 70 years. I would pick this one, with Cameron Diaz. It shows fusion and freedom in style we have today. And freedom of choice as our main value.
